![]() It is a clean install of Windows 10 Pro as above from the MS Download. ![]() I am running a Win 10 Pro (64 bit) version 1803.17134.376 which is the very latest prior to the withdrawn version 1809. I checked to see if I had 'C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\MSIxxxxxx.log'. Just done a password reset again to get access but don't know how long it will last based on past experience. Even ForumAdmin issued me with a new password which also resulted in my being locked out. Please accept my apologies for not getting back sooner however I have been locked out of the forum on numerous occasions with the error that I have entered the wrong password (which I haven't). Looking at the info it seems older versions of Win10 only support v4.6.2 so if your 'new' laptop, which may have been hanging about for a long time before sale, wasn't fully updated at the time there is a possibility that is something to do with the PDN installer problem.Įven if all this does is confirm everything is up to date that is still useful information for the real troubleshooters here. Even simpler and therefore preferable just launch Revo Uninstaller or similar and it will list all installed programs including Microsoft. That is apparently what the Win10 Fall Creators Update supports along with the most recent v4.7.2 update. Whether it shows the full version I don't know but It should be v4.7.1 at least. Win10 I think uses Start menu > Settings > System > Apps and Features to list all installed programs. That will actually only give you a code ID for the version which means nothing to the average user. Contrary to the online advice you find the easiest way to do that is not to mess around in the registry. The expert advice given in those threads is first to check that it is genuinely up to date. ![]() I'm good.If you search back here (using Google) on the same subject plenty of threads report similar problems with Win10. Maybe not strong enough? Odd that I got through most of the installation one time through, and now it won't even start. Another thought: I'm using an old PSU from my previous build ( 12V=28A). I'm wondering if my mobo suffered infant mortality. Try one stick in A2, then the other stick in A2. Recreate boot stick with Rufus and an ISO image. Recreate boot USB stick with media creator. Used the USB jack on the front panel, then the rear on the mobo. The installation never starts, except once or twice I got to the first purple page, but upon pressing 'next', it rebooted.Īll of the following were unsuccessful, not necessarily in this order: Now, as soon as I start up, the Windows circle turns about twice, and I go into a reboot loop. Restarted and got only a little way into the installation menu, then the system rebooted. (The next time into the installation, it showed an error that I needed a GPT disk.) So I switched the BIOS OS type to UEFI. ![]() Tried again, but realized that the BIOS was in legacy mode. Got through loading files, but then the system wouldn't boot. Having problems getting the Win 10 OS installation to load.Īt first, I started up with BIOS defaults and tried to install onto the NVMe SSD. I haven't built in 10 years, so it was time. ![]()
